The platform shoe has a long history, starting with the 1930s, making a brief stop in the 50s, and returning again in the 70s. This new crop of platform shoes steps up to a whole new level. We’re calling them mega-platforms and this amazing silhouette is popping up in everything from sandals to pumps!
Sure, they appear intimidating, but just try them. Because they make the heel feel a little less high, they’re quite easy on the foot. You can work a higher, spindly heel a little more comfortably. They also provide a solid base for a chunkier high heel or a wedge.
I’m thinking my next pair of platforms - sandals, probably - will be fabulous with a pair of wide-legged pants and a tunic top. Take a look at our selection and see what you think. Who knows what heights you’ll hit!
